Eastwood City Cinemas launched their 3D cinemas yesterday with the screening of Shrek: Forever After. Lauren and I were invited to be one of the 1st people in the world to see the movie. I was doubly excited to see the movie because I love cartoons and it was going to be my first time to see a full length 3D movie.
We were issued tickets as well as a pass for the 3D goggles. The pass included a warning that breaking the glasses would result in a P2000 charge. The glasses even included an anti-theft device on the side.
This is the fourth and last movie for Shrek in the title role. Though, there is a rumored appearance for him in the Puss n Boots spin-off movie. Shrek has gone through a lot during the series from rescuing the princess, finding true love and having a family. Now he is having a mid life crisis going thru everyday stuff not knowing he has it all. So he goes off and makes a deal with Rumplestiltskin to make things go back the way they were in exchange for a day in Shrek’s life.
As we might expect, Shrek is cheated by Rumplestiltskin (be sure to watch out for his wigs), who now owns Far, Far Away Land. Nobody knows him and everything is different. He finds out that nobody rescued Fiona and she is now the leader of the Ogre resistance fighting against Rumplestiltskin. Shrek has got his work cut out for him trying to make Fiona fall in love and kiss him, which is the only way to break to fix everything.
I really enjoyed the movie as well as the 3D experience although after a while the glasses were pressing on my nose a little. I really like the feeling of immersive feeling that the glasses impart.
I highly recommend this film for all the kids and their parents especially the dads, who sometimes feel like Shrek, not knowing how good they have life until they lose everything. Go watch it in a theater near you, better yet in 3D.
