Peanut Butter and Co.

A lazy Saturday morning was the perfect opportunity to go exploring. We traversed EDSA to get to SM North to try out two places there, Peanut Butter and Co.(PBC) and Caveman and Yeti (a forgettable experience).

It took us quite a while to find PBC since it was on the other side of the main building compared to our parking near The Block. I was surprised to see that the place was quite small, capable of seating around 8 people inside and around 10 outside. We chose to sit outside since it was a little warm inside the store, don't know if their A/C was not working properly or what.

Outside the store, I see a wall filled with different colored bottles of what else but peanut butter. Upon reaching the counter, we did not know what to order so we asked the advise of the cashier. She informed us that their bestsellers are Elvis The King Sandwich and Curry Chicken Sandwich. We took advantage of their half sandwich option so we can order more variety.

We started off with Box of Chips (P65) and paired this with Peanut Cucumber Mayo (P35). I really loved these mojo-like potato chips but these are much thicker. The peanut cucumber dip was a refreshing jolt to the crispy hot potatoes. A definite must order on the next visit.

I admit I'm not a peanut butter fan, I tried it when I was a kid but really is not a preferred food for me. So come ordering time, I picked a slightly less peanutty sandwich, the Curry Chicken (P105/half). A piece of grilled chicken with lettuce, tomatoes, pineapple and curry peanut butter. This was a little hard to eat since the grilled chicken is quite thick, making for a wobbly sandwich. The taste was alright but nothing special.

Irene ordered the Elvis (P85/half), crunchy peanut butter, bananas and bacon. She was extremely happy with this nicely done sandwich. She finally acquiesced to my plea for a bite. I must say that a bite of this has changed my mind regarding peanut butter. Its actually a weird combination for a sandwich but it actually works. The combination for the soft bananas, the crunchy peanut butter and the crunchy bacon encased in perfectly toasted bread produced a taste explosion in my mouth. I will be ordering this next time.

Since we only got a half sandwich each, we decided to order BBQ Wings (P125), topped with Chili Peanut Butter. After eating good wings from Charlie's and Flaming Wings, these are a let down in taste as well as in size.We had a piece each and wrapped the rest.

Feeling that we wanted something more, we each choose a sweet sandwich, I chose the Marshmallow Peanut Butter Sandwich (P75/half). I picked crunchy peanut butter to pair up with the generous marshmallow cream.  This was a wonderful ending to the lunch, sweet marshmallow cream mixed with crunchy peanut butter. I can't believe I'm talking about peanut butter like this.

Irene wanted to get a classic so she chose, PB and J.(P45/half), this time with crunchy peanut butter and grape jelly.

A definite return trip is needed for me to get me an Elvis. I just wish they had more accessible branches, SM MOA and North are both quite far from me.

Love their peanut butter then take home one of the 12 flavors available in beautifully labeled bottles.
