Authentic Mexican meal at Hermanos Taco Shop

Hermanos Taco Shop is tucked in a corner of a gas station along Granada Ave.., pass by too fast and you might just miss it. There is ample parking available so no worries there. A curious thing about the shop is it has two doors, one opening to the counter where you place your order and another one opening to the dining area.

Stepping inside the taco shop, you'll see the counter and open kitchen on the right side while the dining area on the left side is decorated very simply. I liked the way they used firewood logs stacked the whole height of the wall as anchor to the whole dining area, looks very rustic, a departure from the gas station view outside.

We decided to get Carne Asada Chips (P320), nachos topped with sour cream, jalapenos, tomato salsa and carne asada (roasted beef). I have a thing for nacho chips but sometimes its hard to order when its only two of us eating out. I love the generous amount of carne asada on top as well as their great tasting salsa. Another interesting thing is the Carne Asada fries, just replace the chips with french fires, sounds really interesting.

After seeing a tamales feature on tv, we were intrigued.

 So upon seeing that its available at Hermanos, we ordered one with Pork Tamale (P320) so Irene could eat it also. This dish was so not what we were expecting, it tasted bland, maybe the filling is not savory enough to counteract the corn dough outside.

Irene ordered her favorite Chicken Quesadilla (P230) as usual. She said she liked this one better than the one at Ristra's.  She said it tasted much simpler and did not look too daunting to eat. I got a piece and I have to agree with her, I liked this one better also. The chicken was nicely done and their home made salsa is evident here again.

Actually I also liked Rolled Tacos (P285/6pcs., P195/3pcs.) crispy flour tortillas stuffed with beef or chicken. I had 1 piece of the beef rolled tacos and topped with the salsa and sour cream. I loved the crispy tortilla against the soft meat inside, a far different dish from the tacos we're used to. I would definitely order this next time.

I think the owner was quite happy with us and the other table since he sent over a plate of Cinnamon Crisp (P95), on the house. I loved it since it reminded me of turon wrappers, albeit this one is coated in cinnamon. A nice little surprise to end the meal.

Hermanos is another Mexican restaurant option, its clean and has ample parking spaces. The food is good although its not really that cheap.So go visit their shop, have a try.
