Manila's Signature Dishes 2010 : Fish Out Of Water

Fish Out of Water in Greenbelt 5 is part of the Red Crab group of Restaurants and is headed by Chef Nell Badere. He has assembled a set for Manila's Signature Dishes 2010 composed of bestsellers and new additions to the menu focusing on the restaurants goal of using local ingredients with international execution.

Cebuano Danggit Salad with Honey Mustard Dressing. The star of this salad is the danggit, its very salty but pairing it with the honey mustard dressing tempered the saltiness. The greens were very fresh and crispy and eaten with the danggit and nori brings an explosion of flavors in the mouth. A wonderful starter to a great meal.

Vietnamese Roasted Garlic Crab (Thang Nang Crab). A new additionto the menu, local King Crab slowly simmered in roasted garlic and spices with noodles.The garlic flavor is very strong and together with the other spices just makes you want to eat more. The noodles contain a bit more of spiciness than the crab itself. I even found myself licking my fingers while eating.

Crème Brûlée. I like the creamy texture of the custard but as usual I avoided eating the caramelized sugar on top, don't like them sticking to my teeth.

Don't miss Fish Out of Water's super nice menu, one of the best I've seen. Its made up of lots of different stories of Filipinos who have ventured out of the country and made names for themselves. I read through almost all of the entries while dining, an entertaining and insightful read.
