A surprise would soon greet us because Animetric and hubby were also there having lunch with a friend.
So we got together in one table, and since they've eaten at Charlie's Wonton a couple of times already, we asked their help in ordering.
Pares (P110). This set is made up of a cup of fried rice, a bowl of beef brisket and soup. The fried rice serving was quite big, striving to eat less rice, I only finished half. I loved the beef brisket, the meat was soft, meaning its been cooked for a while so each piece of meat is full of flavor. It went perfectly with the fried rice but I also think plain rice would have worked too.
Wanton Mami (P105/regualr) What's a trip to a wanton house without ordering wanton mami. This was Irene's order since she's somewhat of a wanton lover. The bowl was very big and packed with a 5 or 6 pieces of wanton and generous amount of vegetables. The noodles had a nice bite to it but the wanton were not really that great for us but for the price and serving its ok to fill up your stomach.
Sizzling Tofu. While we were busy chatting away we saw a plate being delivered to a nearby table that smelled so good. We asked the waitstaff what it was and proceeded to place an order. Its essentially tofu topped with generous amount of minced meat in a savory sauce. I love this dish even though I'm not a tofu lover. It seems like a Chinese version of the tofu steak popular in Japanese restaurants like Sugi.
Overall its not culinary greatness but more of the home cooked food that draws you to Charlie's Wonton, the servings are also big to fill all your hunger pangs. Next time I'd probably order the Beef mami. Feeling famished and want to have a value for money meal, head on over to Charlie's Wanton House.
