Mercato Centrale @ BGC Part 2

This is part 2 of my finds at Mercato Centrale at the BGC, we were actually there for three straight weeks. Mercato will be back this weekend after taking a hiatus during the Christmas holidays.

Mercato 3

Nutsylicious
This is actually the first time I've seen walnuts still in their shell. The also have some other nuts like pistachios, almonds and macadamias.

Mercato 4

Cheezy potato (P40) at a certain outdoor stall caught our fancy during our first week, and as testament to its great taste we have ordered it the following two weeks. Its about 12 marble potatoes per order that's chockfull of bacon and cheese sauce, they even drizzle more of it on your order.

Little Miss OC's Kitchen

The stall has beautiful cupcakes with characters from Plants vs. Zombie and Angry Birds as well as Christmas themed ones. The are very well made and around medium sized but a little pricey at P100 each.

I also bought some Terra Chips (P250), a mix of taro and sweet potato. They were not that crispy but looked very nice with its mix of colors. This was most probably pattered after the "Terra Chips" from the US, which were very good but even pricier.

Farm n' Deli
We bought a pack of longaniza from Cebu, but they have a myriad of choices of loganiza from different parts of the Philippines.

Mercato 1

Delimondo

Purveyors of wonderful corned beef as well as some other deli goodies. There's no need to troop to their store in Makati or Salcedo market as they have their own stall here. I've been buying their chuky corned beef for a few years already

Mercato 15

Baked by Anita
I was enticed by the peculiar combination's of mini cupcakes they had like the Bacon Maple, which really had bacon bits and a sweet after taste. Describing the combinations really does not do them justice so head on over there as they are eager to give anyone free trial of the exotic creations.

Johnny Steams
Hearing about steamed burgers from Johnny Steams on Facebook got me so curious. When I found out they were going to be at Mercato, I made it a point to order it that particular week. I ordered a Yankee Burger (P125) cheese, peanut butter and crispy bacon on top of a steamed beef patty. The burger tasted ok for me but seems a little dry by my tastes. I think I still prefer the traditional grilled ones but give it a try and decide for yourselves.

Balamban Liempo
Authentic Cebu lechon liempo now in Mercato. A slab is P250, around half a kilo. We just bought one to eat it at home and the pics are of the reheated slab of meat. The meat is very tender and flavorful owing to the herbs inserted in every slice.

Hopefully I can go back to Mercato Centrale in the near future to share with you more of my food finds at the best food market in town.
