La Regalade is a name I've heard and read of many times but have yet to visit. It is a seeming duplicate of Michelin-starred chef Alain Raye's Vancouver restaurant. The current executive chef had trained in Vancouver also before taking the reins. So when I saw a coupon from Twangoo being offered for a lunch deal, I immediately pounced on it.
So off we went, Irene and I for a quick lunch date with coupon in hand. Parking was a breeze as there was ample space in front of the restaurant. We were immediately seated in a booth table and were presented the menu for the coupon deal. We initially wanted two different meals but was informed the deal was for a pair is limited only 1 lunch set.
Complimentary bread was served while they were preparing out meal. I like the crusty, crunchy bread as it served to keep the hunger at bay, even though I'm not really fond of bread. I love the lattice paper under the bread and butter dish, gives a nice touch of class to an otherwise ordinary white plate.
Our lunch set is composed of a soup and a main dish. Our pick was the Red Snapper Broth.A very warm flavorful bowl of soup full of fish and topped with Parmesan cheese, giving it a nice sharp contrast. Each sip of the soup and you'll taste the essence of the snapper.
Chicken Provencal. Irene was not expecting much saying its just chicken breast but after having a taste she was bowled over. This was one of the best tasting chicken breast we have both had. The simple white wine cream sauce served as the perfect foil to the nicely spiced chicken breast. There was a few moments of silence as we were both nodding our heads while putting fork after fork of the chicken in our mouth.
I love the atmosphere in the bistro, its luxe yet relaxed with wonderful underwater photos of fish all around. Service was top notch, fresh pepper was offered once a new dish was laid on the table. Our server also came by and asked if we needed anything or if everything was ok a few times. We will definitely be back to La Regalade, hopefully soon.
