The Real Thing Diner : Always Coca Cola

TRT 12

The club got an invite to try out The Real Thing Diner in Il Terazzo. The restaurant is a Coca-cola themed from the decor to its menu. I was surprised to hear that most of the decor were from the owner's own collection. I don't think I could not bare parting with that extensive a collection.

I love Coke and will only choose the competitor when Coke is not available, and grudgingly at that. I also dabble a little in Coke memorabilia, having owned some bottles and special cans as well as jigsaw puzzles. With Coke jingles, old and new in the background, I looked at all the memorabilia in quiet reverence.

TRT 9

Eight O' Clock Chicken (P289). Minute maid marinated chicken fillet. I felt the chicken was a little dry although the chicken was flavorfully sweet and citrusy just like the Minute maid drink.

TRT 1

Cinnamon Snifter (P99). We got half a glass each of this pseudo rootbeer float which is made up of Coke, Sarsi and topped with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon. I mixed the vanilla ice cream into the drink after I had sipped a few to avoid messy overflow. The regular serving is in a tall glass.

TRT 8

Eight O' Clock Apple Green Tea Dory (P249). Irene and I both liked this dish although she liked it without the sauce while I like a bit of the sweetish sauce. The fish tasted fresh and was cooked just right and not tough.

TRT 3

Spicy Sarsi Wings (P199) Chicken Wings with a Sarsi glaze. My hands down favorite of the evening as evidenced by the number of chicken bones on my plate. I actually did not taste any spiciness or maybe I was too enamored with them to even notice.

TRT 4

Ol' Fashion Spaghetti n Meatballs (P199). Nothing special here, just your usual meatball spaghetti. It just failed to impress me compared to the other Coca -coal inspired recipes. A nice safe order for kids except Lauren, since she does not eat spaghetti.

TRT 5

Coca Cola BBQ Burger (P249). This one was quite a large burger, the meat almost bursting from the bun, topped with Coca cola bbq sauce and served with criss cut fries.

TRT 10

Coca Cola Baby Back Ribs (P399) Using the same bbq sauce as the one in the burger. This is another dish that failed to impress me overall even though I liked the bbq sauce. The meat was dry, good thing the mashed actually more like smashed potatoes since it had a couple of potato pieces mixed in.

TRT 7TRT 2

Chookie Ice Cream Sandwich (P89) and Choc a la Mode (P89). Both desserts perfect for chocolate and ice cream lovers. 2 chocolate chip cookies sandwich a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with lots of chocolate sauce. Lauren would have surely loved this one. The choc ala mode on the other hand was warm chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream melted quickly since the chocolate cake is on the hot side, it just cools down a bit with the ice cream. This one was a little too sweet for me.

TRT 6

Happily Appley (P89) Soft apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream. It had a nice apple taste even though I prefer French apple pies with large apple chunks and lots of cinnamon.

TRT 11

I loved the place, the decor, the music, I admit I'm a Coca-cola fanboy. There's also a lot of interesting stuff on the menu I'd like to try again next time like the Royal Tru Orange pork chops and Coca cola Jambalaya. Do you love Coca-cola too, then give The Real Thing Diner a try. What's more they have unlimited sodas at only P69, quite cheap compared to other stores.
