Groovin' Mr. Jones

Mr. Jones 04

I've been to Mr. Jones a few times before but did not get to blog about it yet so when we decided to grab a bite here before proceeding to the Nuffnang X-Men First class screening, I made sure to bring my camera gear. Fran and Paul joined us for dinner and they happily played the provided pick up sticks with Lauren.

I love the ambiance of the throwback diner look that Mr. Jones projects, the only thing missing is the bar counter with images of girls in their frilly skirts sipping milkshakes.

I picked A Bowl O' Chili (P295) thinking I would be eating some of Lauren's order since I doubt she would be able to finish it considering the large servings Mr Jones serves. I've ordered this a couple of times before and when they say a bowl, is a BOWL, big enough light eater would be very full. Mr. Jones' version of chili uses chunk of tender beef and extra beans and chili are provided on the side in a small silver cup. The soup is hearty, flavorful and the spiciness is just right for me.I even spoon slices of the beef on the chips before munching for the crunchy and chewy feel.

Irene opted for Old Fashioned Grilled Cheese and Alphabet Tomato Soup (P230). I did not get to taste the cheese sandwich but I did get a few sips of the tomato soup. The soup was creamy and tart with little letters inside which will bring out the child in you, busy spooning up you name, letter by letter, from the soup.

Lauren picked Thick Double Smoked Bacon and Eggs (P350) thinking the bacon would be the crunchy kind she liked. When the plate was laid out, she was kinda disappointed and just ate 1 piece along with the eggs and biscuit. Good thing my instincts were right, I was the one tasked with eating the rest of the bacon as well as the potatoes. No complaints here, the bacon was very very good, the smoky flavor was prevalent, I just had to remove some of the fatty parts.

Mr. Jones hits the mark yet again, a filling and appetizing dinner, good service with a cool ambiance to boot.

I suggest to be there early during weekends since their air conditioned seating area is quite small and the whole place gets filled up even the al fresco part. There's good news in the future as we saw that Mr. Jones has gotten the space beside it, so that means more seats in the future.
