Flapjacks is a place I always associate with all day breakfast, from the look and feel of the place, the menu and the food. I admit I have not been back there, ever since they removed the ham steak from the menu, which Irene and I both like (hint, hint).
This time, Jane, Fran and I all got separate vouchers to try out the comeback of their best sellers. We decided to go together to be able to order and subsequently try more food.
We started off with the Mango Exotica (P325, regular) salad. We all loved this salad with the sweet mango slices complimenting the mango vinaigrette. The croutons, raisins and almond slivers gave different textures to complete the appetizing experience.
Eating with Jane, means we're always on the lookout for chicken wings, something she always craved for. So spotting Parmesan Chciken Wings (P255), we immediately ordered it. The wings were crispy, coated with the sharp Pamesan cheese. I also liked that they were not oily like the ones from Buffalo Wings N Things. The order was quickly polished off.
Chicken Stuffed Parmigiana (P325). Cheddar stuffed chicken breast with marinara linguine. The marinara sauce was tangy, just the way I like my pasta. The chicken was tender and cheese lovers will love the generous amount of semi melted cheese inside.
Lemon-Pepper Pan seared White Fish (P295). This dish got raves all around, despite being just the same dory fish fillet most restaurants used. They cooked the fish perfectly, complimented by the citrus and pepper seasoning giving it a nice zing.
The Original Hashbrown Burger (P350). I guess we know who thought of it first. We had the burger sliced into four so more people could try it. The patty was very meaty, nicely grilled while the bun was soft.
The hash brown was cooked well but I still like hash brown from McDonald's better, but this one is quite close.
Smoked Chicken Longganisa (P285). I liked that the longganisa was not fatty, probably because it was made with chicken. The taste was also slightly sweet, dissuading me from even getting near the vinegar.
American Platter (P375). Lauren loves breakfast food like pancakes and scrambled eggs, so this one seem perfect for her. This one seemed similar to the one served in Momo, but once it was served we found out the sausages were not of the breakfast kind, they were more the German sausage kind. Lauren just chucked the sausage over to me and ate the rest.
Jack's Apple and Chicken (P225). An interesting take on the usual chicken sandwich. This one has apple slices that give a little crunch and some sweetness to each bite.
I'm glad Flapjacks is starting to bring back what their customers like and order regularly. I hope they really bring back the ham steak we loved when they first opened and it was self service, order at the counter resto.
So far, the ones they've brought are all good, so head on over to Flapjacks, they might have just brought back your old favorite.
