I recently got a chance to preview some of the vendors that will be joining Best Food Forward 2012. Its only their second year they are holding this event and is the perfect kickoff for the summer season.
Best Food Forward 2012 is happening on March 24 and March 25 at the NBC Tent with a ticket price of P50 only. Proceeds from the event is for the benefit of the Unang Hakbang Foundation.
Butter Beer. A creation of Darla, daughter of Dedet, the stuffed lechon maven of Pepeita’s Kitchen. I first came across this Hogwart’s inspired drink at the lechon degustation I attended last year. It tastes like Peter’s butter ball candy melted down and topped with whipped cream. There are two versions, one kid friendly and another one for adults which contains a wee bit of liqueur.
Triple Chocolate Mousse from Casa San Luis. I had previously come across Casa San Luis at the Ultimate Taste Test 6.0, who were showcasing their Filipino – French quiches. This chocolate mouse can be made any shape and with any number of toppings. The one I had that day was topped with crushed choc-nut. Not too sweet and just right in the chocolate taste department.
Pint Homemade Ice Cream. A quirky name pointing both to the size and the company that makes it. They have a number of flavors including Roasted Pistachio, Banoffee Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Crunchy Belly from Carlo’s Kitchen. Thinly sliced pork, seasoned perfectly then deep fried to oblivion. This is crunchy, addicting, bad for you but oh so good, in other words its EVIL. You get a piece and bite, crackling sounds abound and by the time you know it, you need to get more since you’ve wiped everything out.
ChocoATBP’s multitude of cacao/tablea based products like cupcakes, suman and of course hot cacao.
The Fruit Garden will be selling their multitude of great French jams including their new Summer flavors based on Mango, Mango-Guyabano, Mango-Langka and Mango-Durian. I loved the mango-langka jam. These jams are not only good with bread and crackers they even make a nice addition to savory and sweet recipes.
Angus Beef and Chicken Kebabs from SkewU. A Banchetto favorite that has spawn a new restaurant in Kapitolyo. The kebabs were brushed with a satay sauce that had a taste of peanut, so those with allergies should check first. I had some ligaments in the beef skewer and actually liked the chicken more.
Organic and healthy pizzas from Quantum Cafe. These pizzas are made with their own home amde whole wheat pizza crust. A lot of their variants are healthy but they do have some not so healthy ones like the longganisa and kesong puti.
Simply Pie’s Mini Pies and Quiches.
If this preview is any indication, the vendors at Best Food Forward 2012 will definitely be a great bunch. I will definitely make it a point to go there, so see you guys there. Happy buying and eating.
