I honestly was not expecting anything when we got a chance to visit Burger and Brewskies in Burgos Circle with the KTG crew. I was thinking burgers, how much can they do with the good old burger, but boy was I in for a surprise. I usually avoid Burgos Circle because parking is really hard but this time aroun it was quite easy despite the lunch hour.
There’s a really manly vibe with regards to the decor. Old wooden planks on the wall, recovered from old houses gives it a lot of character. Be surprised as you look up and notice light shining through the beer bottled chandelier like a kaleidoscope of color. There a couple of tables on the ground floor but most of them are in the mezzanine. Outdoor seating is perfect for the nighttime or those that want to puff up with their burgers and brewskies.
We started with some appetizers like the SPF (P65), thinly cut sweet potato fries coated in a secret spice mix. The sweet and spicy coating makes this a quick finish as everyone was reaching for piece after piece. It was so addictive.
This hefty Cuban Missile (P120) corn cob came next. It’s a large sized grilled corn cob, slathered with mayo then coated with spicy cheddar mix. Squeeze some lime for a citrus kick. We had this shredded so it would be easier to eat and share.
Before we get to the burgers, lets wing it first. Burger and Brewskies has a five regular variants of chicken wings. My personal favorite was the Zesty BBQ (P195), its has more of the sweet flavor with a dash of smoky finished off by light spiciness. I was actually licking my fingers without realizing it.
Irene favorite was the CNY limited special Salt and Pepper Wings (P195). It’s a chicken wing with uncomplicated flavors. The way it was being received during the limited time offering has it destined to be added to the regular menu. Since there is no rice served in Burgers and Brewskies, you might want to head out to the nearest convenience store and grab a couple of orders of rice to match with this one.
I love eating with a group, I get to taste a lot of dishes compared to when Irene and I eat out. I was able to sample almost all of Burger and Brewskies crazy creations starting with Relish Burger (P225). All their burgers start with a 1/3 pound freshly made imported beef patty thats been cooked to a perfect medium. The relish burger has tomato jam, pickled onions, basil garlic pesto, cheese sauce and mustard aioli. The color are just stunning, each topping carefully placed on top of the other, you might (might only) just not want to eat it. There’s a sweet and tangy flavor that balances out the cheese and beef, plus a slight crunch from the onions.
The Cloud Burger (P230) was next, topped with balsamic glazed shitake mushrooms, dried figs, cheese sauce and roasted garlic aoili. This had a very earthy component with the mushrooms and figs but I think I liked the idea more than the taste.
Breaking Bad fans like the owners of B&B will get a kick out of the next two burgers named after the characters of the hit TV show. The Heisenberg (P250)
The second burger was the Hector Salamanca (P240) with cheese sauce, chili oil, jalapeno cream, salsa and nacho strips. This one is super spicy from the tiny piece I tried, the one who can take the spiciness loved the crunchy textures of this one.
There was only one Chicken burger on the menu called Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (P230) topped with cheese sauce, garlic aioli, onion strings and rum bbq sauce. I got a bite and liked it a lot since the rum bbq sauce is the same one they use in the zesty bbq wings. The chicken patty is quite hefty also so non beef eaters should be satiated.
The Kandi burger (P265) showcases their playfulness with a spiced candied bacon that just goes so well with the burger, cheese sauce and onion confit.
One look at the Call the Nurse Burger (P280) and you’ll know this one is bad ass. The burger is topped with cheese sauce, grilled mac and cheese and topped with honey sriracha bacon. This one is just EVIL. There’s also a double patty, double mac & cheese version of this one called Call the ER which means its doubly evil.
Their newest creation is called the Walk of Shame aka Breakfast Burger. It has cheese sauce, crispy bacon, the top bun turned upside down with a fried egg inside, potato hay and lemondaise sauce drizzle all over. One messy burger to eat but oh so enjoyable.
Burger and Brewskies really takes their burgers seriously with careful thought going into making each one. Prices are quite reasonable for their robust burgers, most are a bit messy to eat with your hands. There are a lot of beer choices to match with your choice of burger. My three favorites would be the Relish, Walk of Shame and the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
People in the BGC area looking for a nice burger hangout should definitely give Burger and Brewskies a try.
