Figaro is celebrating Christmas early by making their holiday theme pastries dubbed Figaro Christmas Treats available starting Oct. 3, 2011 in all Metro Manila branches.
Red Velvet Cake. I’m not really a fan of red velvet, it feels weird that something tastes like chocolate but is red in color. I would not really know how good red velvet cakes are but this was not bad but it was a tad sweet.
Figaro Fruit Cake. A moist cake with alcohol laced fruits and nuts inside. This one I liked, its very much different from what I know of fruit cakes, those hard bricks that seem to have been passed from person to person. The icing was not too sweet and had more of the yummy fruit pieces.
Butterscotch Bar. This was very chewy but did not really get my attention.
Pistachio Biscotti. I liked this one but you definitely have to bite gingerly as its quite hard by itself. A quick dip into coffee with soften it up and you’ll get to taste the bits of pistachio throughout and the while chocolate dipped ends are a nice addition.
Peppermint Brownie. I like the taste of peppermint, its something I look forward to every Christmas season and this brownie definitely has it in spades. Each chewy bite is full of peppermint flavor that will have fans asking for another.
Gingerbread and Christmas Tree Cookie. Of the two I’d go for the Christmas tree, which is a butter cookie, the sweetness level is just right and it looks so cute. The gingerbread cookie was lacking in the ginger taste and had too much sugar, this coming from a sweet tooth.
These treats are best paired with brewed coffee to balance out the sweetness. Check them out at all Metro Manila branches of Figaro.
