It’s no secret that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so when I heard about Early Bird Breakfast Club opening at the Fort Strip, I immediately had to schedule a visit. It’s a small but bright and cheery space, located below URBN Bar and Kitchen. One Sunday morning, the family decided to drop by but by the time we arrived it was more brunch than breakfast already.
The place is not immediately visible but once you find the entrance there’s no mistaking what they serve with the big cheery egg right smack on their signage as well as dominating a big part of their wall.
I love the upholstery of these seats but the table is small so it’s probably more for a small breakfast, not for the big eaters like us.
The three of us were browsing the menu when Lauren exclaimed that she wanted the Bacon Twist (P285). Twisted lean bacon, baked and served with maple syrup. The twisted bacon are the prefect shape for dipping in the maple syrup. There’s a whole sweet and salty thing going on that was just enjoyable, so enjoyable we ordered another one.
Irene was torn between a few items on the menu but finally decided on the Arroz Caldo Crunch (P265). It’s basically chicken rice porridge given a extra kick with crispy adobo flakes. She enjoyed her dish very much.
I decided on the ViVa Longganisa (P345) after finding out their Full English breakfast was not being served because they ran out of one of the ingredients. My order consisted of 4 pieces of local sausages, fried egg and breakfast rice and a little pickled salad. I like the longganisa, two were a bit sweet (perfect) while the other two a bit on the peppery garlic side. Both did not have overpowering amount of fat, just enough to give it flavor and aroma. The rice was something like garlic rice.
Since Lauren only ordered the bacon twist, she got a dessert, the French Toast Fondue (P210), served with cinnamon, chocolate, and maple syrup. The presentation was beautiful with the three dipping sauce placed in egg shells. The taste is actually the problem, with the french toast being burnt, leaving a bad taste in the mouth.
We were able to only test a part of Early Bird Breakfast Club‘s menu and found the prices a bit high and service a bit off but ambiance, serving size, and presentation were good. We’ll have to come back to try more of their breakfast staples like pancakes and that elusive English breakfast.
