Cold Spoon 03

I’ve been hearing a lot about Cold Spoon Frozen Yogurt in Pampanga but have never had to chance to try it out until we decided to attend the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fest. So with tour guides, Paul and Fran leading the way, we proceeded there after a side trip of food shopping (as usual). The store is set amid large trees on the road with some residential and light commercial around, its slightly off the beaten path. Good thing we had our tour guides.

The place is nice and cozy, with an assortment of seating from single couches, wide couches and wooden single chairs. The interior has lots of big windows which gives the place ample amount of natural lighting.

Irene ordered her default cup of plain yogurt, medium size (P90). Irene and I eschew the multitude of toppings and are more than happy with out cups of plain frozen yogurt. After being exposed to a lot of sub par frozen yogurt places, we decided to order 1 cup to share first. Hitting my taste buds, the yogurt tastes just right, slightly sweet, with enough tartness to satisfy what we look for in our fro-yos. The texture is smooth and creamy to have us wanting more and more. I immediately got up and got my own order.

I opted for a Strawberry Lassi (P100) after some one else in the store ordering it. This was cold and refreshing but I was thinking at the back of my mind that I should have stuck with the cup of plain yogurt. I’m not saying the drink is bad, I was just missing the tartness that was muted by the milk and other what not added to the lassi. Good thing, I had already gotten a few spoonfuls from Irene’s cup.

An interesting thing about the Cold Spoon store was the drive thru lane situated at the side of the store. No need to park, go down and buy at the counter. You could just drive by the window and choose your orders by the window. I would guess this is the only frozen yogurt store that has a drive thru like the many fast food chains.

I rate Cold Spoon and Red Mango as my favorite frozen yogurt stores. These two purveyors of frosty pleasures are both equally good but still different. So, I really encourage you to try out Cold Spoon if you are ever in the Pamapanga area and get a taste of the cold secret they have over there.
