During our trip last April, we stayed at the 5 star Jiangou Hotel Guangzhou. It was less than 2 blocks away from the Guangzhou East Railway station, making it really easy to get to the hotel. Jiangou is one of the biggest hotel chains in China with over 50 hotels under their management. There is a big IKEA store about a block away, a underground mall across the street with lots of food options, retail outlets and convenience stores.
Once you enter the doors you’ll be greeted by a modern staircase with a water feature.
Check in counters decorated in a modern motif and black counter tops.
Modern looking chairs and table in this waiting area beside the house phones.
We were situated in the 24th floor so up the elevator we went. Their elevator has a little glitch that I can’t understand why they did not fix. They have two sets of elevators serving different floors but pushing on the buttons lights all of them up, sometimes we got an elevator that did not serve our floor.
The room was quite large at 32 sqm. and provided a nice city view. Our room had 2 double beds which we combined to
Here’s a view from our window on the 24th floor, you can readily see the train and bus depot.
The toilet is spacious and decorated in dark stone. 2 bottles of drinking water as well as generous amount of toiletries was available.
Our room also had a bath tub which made Lauren extra happy.
They provided robes as well as disposable room slippers. A mini safe and a small fridge is also there, pretty standard for most hotels.
The daily buffet breakfast is taken at the Grand Cafe, located on the 2nd floor. The cafe has nice natural lights courtesy of the 6 meter high ceiling.
The hotel also has two other restaurants, Sazanami Japanese restaurant and Plentiful Court Chinese restaurant.
There’s a wide range of breads and pastries.
There were also a number of Chinese specialties like stir fried noodles and dimsum dishes.
Aside from the usual fruit juice, they also had many self service coffee and tea choices.
The food changed everyday the 3 times we had breakfast there, so there was always something different to try.
Going to Guangzhou, then I highly recommend Jiangou Hotel. It is located in a convenient area, near transportation and with easy accessibility to malls and the subway network. The hotel is clean and modern while the English speaking staff was efficient.
