On our last visit to Hong Kong, we dropped by K-11 Mall, situated a couple of minutes away from our hotel, Holiday Inn.K-11 is actually dubbed the world’s first art shopping mall. The exhibition while we were there centered around Tokidoki. The mall was fully decorated with different Tokidoki characters and they even had a promo where you can exchange an exclusive item for a minimum purchase, too bad all allocations was fully redeemed.
This giant lion character is called Lion Papa, lorded it over the middle of the mall. Its really big, as you can see from the pic, is more than a floor high.
Various other characters were displayed throughout different parts of the mall like Sandy (green spiky figure), Pegasus, Ciao Ciao and Adios. Lauren and Irene gamely posed with different characters. Lauren especially got a kick out of the bright and colorful displays.
Aside from the Tokidoki displays, there are also a multitude of artistic pieces displayed all around. They are all so interesting that time just passes away while looking at each one.
This art piece is made entirely out of toast (that’s right bread) is an homage to the Mona Lisa. This project was created by Australian artist Maurice Bennett. who is dubbed “The Toastman” for his many works of art using toasted bread as a medium.
There are also interesting shops selling quirky stuff like the original bladeless fan from Dyson.
There is a nice mix of shops which includes book stores, clothing and accessories shops as well as a branch of popular Hong Kong camera shop, Tin Cheung. We were however unable to explore more of the restaurants, we have already put this down on our must do during our return trip in December. We did visit and enjoy an interesting candy shop called Sticky (I’ll blog about this soon).
