Lobsters are my favorite seafood and a lobster buffet is a crustacean dream come true. Diamond Hotel’s Corniche does just that, for every Friday night until the end of April, unless there’s a huge clamor to keep it longer.
Start off by admiring all those pretty crustacean taking center stage, right as you enter Corniche. Some of the large rock lobster or Pitik as well as blanched red lobster.
You might think the rest of the buffet is made up of the usual stuff and you’ll be dead wrong as there’s lobsters everywhere.
You can start off with some oysters or mussels with a spritz of lemon.
Have your lobster cooked in a myriad of ways including their own creation a Baked four cheese lobster. You can also have it done in a spicy garlic sauce or just have it the classic way with some butter and lemon. If you a way of cooking the lobster in mind, just tell the chefs and they’ll whip it up for you.
I also spotted some lobster dishes like the delightful lobster miso soup and lobster fried rice in the Japanese section. I enjoyed the refreshing lobster pineapple salad as well as the Octopus and lobster salad.
I also tried the grilled lobster completer with baked potatoes as well as the Lobster Tandoori, an Indian rendition, cooked in the tandoori oven. I was surprised to see a Lobster thermidore, a classic dish that was very very popular in the 80s and 90s with virtually every restaurant having a lobster or prawn thermidore on the menu.
Want a little meat to go with your seafood, Corniche still has their grilled steaks for a little surf and turf action but I’d concentrate on lobsters in its many different varieties.
How can you have a buffet without desserts. Corniche has a bevy of them from mini sized versions of Cake Club favorites as well as ice cream and some local rice cakes (kakanin). I actually had two more if that fruit jelly concoction (I’m a sucker for jelly).
The Lobster buffet is priced at P2,385 nett which includes free flowing red and white wine until end of March, after that its only 1 round of wine for the month of April. The lobster buffet only happens every Friday, prepare your taste buds for a feast that will have you singing “under the sea” unless you have an allergy.
