Oysters are something I really really enjoy in whatever form or presentation. Makati Shangri-La’s Circles Event Cafe has seen fit to fulfill all my tummy’s desires with their Oyster Mondays buffet, during the first day of the week, every week of the year. They fly in 10 varieties of fresh oyster from Europe, predominantly from France. I didn’t even know there was that many kinds of oysters.
I love fresh oysters, eating them raw is the best way to enjoy its briny metallic flavor. Spritz some lemon on top and I happily slurp away.
For my first plate of oysters, I got a single piece of each of the 10 varieties. I found the taste variance subtle with my favorite being the one above. The shell is more cylindrical as opposed to the common elongated one and it has a slightly sweet aftertaste.
Raw oysters not appealing to you then the baked ones should tickle your fancy with cheese, bacon or spinach on top.
Maybe you’d like to give the oyster pizza a try. I did and felt the oysters wasted in the pie, it was overpowered by the cheese and crust with just a teeny bit of flavor left.
I went Chinese for my next plate, some roasted meat as well as steamed dimsum. The only thing missing was hoi sin sauce which they did not have, too bad since that’s my favorite condiment.
Other carnivores might fancy the shawarma or the prime rib complete with Yorkshire pudding.
Before I proceed to the desserts, I visited the oyster section for another plate of my favorite raw variety.
Go healthy with a bevy of fruit choices or….
Oyster lovers like me should make it a point to head over to Circle Event Cafe for their Oyster Mondays. This happens every Monday, so you can get your unlimited oyster fix. Be sure to tell me about your experience especially your favorite variety.
