I first read about Size Matters, famous for their sausage burgers, when they were still located in Tomas Morato at a 3rd floor space. I never got around to visiting them until one day I found out they closed down, fast forward to a few weeks ago when I happened on their signage along Shaw and I told Irene we had to schedule a visit there to try it out.
Size Matters occupies a space not visible from the street, I had to ask the guard where it was located. We finally found it behind Pho Hoa and besides the elevator coming down from Super 8 in the 2nd floor.
I’m liking the brick wall look, adds a bit of charm to the usual mall space. It’s not really big, 2 big tables and 3 small ones inside, a couple more outside. Its semi self service, you place your order at the counter and wait for them to bring you the food since they cook it upon order only.
Irene and I took some time to study the menu featuring a wide range of items from their sausage burgers to steaks and even pasta. Since we were there primarily for the sausage burgers, we concentrated on that part of the menu.
I finally decided on the D.P or Don Pepperoni (P189/ 1/2 pound), part of their gourmet burgers. This contains pepperoni sausage patties with cheese, veggies and garlic mushrooms on an oat bun. The burger looked hefty and the veggies looked fresh, don’t you just hate it when places serve you wilted vegetables. I added P50 to upgrade it to a meal with 14 oz drink and fries. I then upgraded to 32oz drink (P50) and changed the fries to Chili Cheese Fries (P50). Kudos to them for allowing upgrades for almost anything.
I skipped adding any condiments to the burger so I could really taste the flavors. I found the bun a bit dry, maybe it was not that new anymore. The sausage patties were very delicious though, the meat a bit charred giving it a smoky taste. The patties had a slight peppery taste that matched well with the garlic mushrooms and cheese.
Here’s the Chili Cheese Fries (P99/single order). Looks nice with the little peppers slices, gooey cheese and peeking chili but the taste was not that great. I’ll skip this next time and just have the wedges.
Finding the gourmet burgers too complicated, Irene decided to just have a plain Sausage Burger (P129). She had potato wedges on the side. She also liked the patties a lot and found the buns a let down.
For drinks, I’d stick with the iced tea, soda or beer, I found the mango drink a bit weird.
Size Matters is a definite addition to our burgeoning restaurant list. The serve a quality product that is much much higher than your favorite fast food joint. Prices are reasonable, parking is aplenty and can I say again that I loved the ability to upgrade almost everything.
