Tokyo Tokyo has a new healthy and light offering perfect for the Lenten season and beyond called Unagi-style Bangus Bento. It’s a fusion of Filipino and Japanese cuisines, getting elements from both and melding it together in a new appetizing one of a kind creation.
A boneless bangus fillet is grilled perfectly and then slathered with sweet and smoky unagi sauce. It is then finished off with generous amounts of garlic bits and sliced onion leeks. Each bento comes with vegetable misono and unlimited rice for a complete meal.
I was quite surprised about how large the piece of bangus was and it was fairly thick. I really enjoyed the addition of the garlic bits, not only does it provide a crunchy texture contrast with the soft bangus but it adds a flavor punch to temper the sweetness of the unagi sauce. This is an order at Tokyo Tokyo that won’t have you feeling like you sacrificed by picking the healthy choice. I was going to try a little piece but before I knew it I finished the whole fillet and wouldn’t mind extra.
You can order it ala carte for P175 or order it with the classic upgrade (miso soup, jelly dessert and red iced tea) or cali maki upgrade (California maki and red iced tea).
