While strolling around Greenbelt 5 looking for a place to have lunch, Irene found some near expiry LJC GCs we had so we decided to try out Fely J’s.We got seats pretty quickly since it was still quite early and a weekday also, good thing though since the place started to fill up after. Browsing thru their menu yielded a few surprising Asian dishes, I had thought it was a purely Filipino restaurant like Abe.
After taking our orders, the server put a basket of kropek (prawn cracker) as a complimentary appetizer. It does not cost very much but it adds to the little touches a restaurant does for its diners. Lauren loves this so she got a couple immediately.
I have this weird fascination with Pancit Canton Guisado (P295), I seem to order it almost anywhere even as far off as Discovery Shores, Boracay (quite pricey but really good). The serving size was quite generous with lots of vegetables and a couple of shrimps on top. I liked the delicious canton noodles, saltiness cut by a squeeze of calamansi. Lauren even had her first try of this and also like it, to our surprise. We took home half of this despite my desire to eat more.
We ordered Lechon Kawali (P389) for Lauren. This was disappointing, the pieces were sliced much too large and skin was not as crispy. Irene just dissected the meat for Lauren to eat with her rice.
Irene ordered the Lamb Kaldereta (P415), we were actually looking for a goat kaldereta but this was the only thing on the menu. It came out nice and fragrant with lots of beautiful colors from the capsicums and olives. The meat, though big, was tender and flavorful. The sauce was perfect with rice, I even put some rice into the serving plate to sop of more of it. I just love sauce with my rice, like I did when I was a kid.
Fely J’s Restaurant was surprisingly good, even though we had only tried it because of circumstance. Although what we ordered was not special, they did the normal things very well. In addition, things like the complimentary appetizers as well as good service served to make the experience enjoyable.

I love their Pancit Canton Guisado!!! Now I really miss dining here. They serve such mean comfort food. :> Great review!
