A couple of weeks ago, Jane of Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice invited us to a staycation in Bellevue Manila together with a group of friends. Little did we know it was going to be one super memorable one. We’ve been on staycations before but never with this big a group of people.
We met up at B Hotel first where a part of our group were staying and had lunch at Prime Cafe.
After lunch, Chef Anna Chua of My Pink Wasabi gave us these boxes of Kashi Maki. Kashi makis are small cakes rolled to imitate sushi rolls (makis), they even provide a pair of chopsticks inside the box. They are available in a variety of flavors, some fruity, some chocolatey. My favorite was the Coconut Dream made with pistachio, white chocolate and of course coconut. Each little piece looks like a work of art, it seems a shame to just eat them.
You can check out the My Pink Wasabi Facebook Page for details on how to order them.
We then checked in to our room at the Bellevue Manila on the Signature Floor.
We then opened up our staycation pack courtesy of Sample Room which contained a number of useful things for the staycation. We had a set of sun protection from Belo Sun Expert, OraCare mouthwash, Vidal Sassoon hair treatment and Sappe collagen drinks.
You can find out more about Sample Room, a beauty and lifestyle sampling site, thru their Facebook Page and website.
Irene also got a pair of Madil flip flops which come with color bands and charms you can switch in and out to suit your mood.
You can check out Madil Philippines’ Facebook Page for more details.
It was time to hit Bellevue’s Tower Wing pool to get a little, teeny, tiny bit of exercise. I took that picture at night (obviously) because it looked so serene and pretty with no one taking a dip.
When we got to the pool, this sight above greeted us. Thanks to Chuckie Dreyfus of All Chucked Up for letting me borrow this panoramic photo. In case you are wondering, yes the same Chuckie that was a child star from That’s Entertainment.
Giant versions of childhood boardgames courtesy of Supersized Ph were laid out by the poolside. In the age of tablets and the internet, children might not be too familiar with these life sized board games like Snakes and Ladders, Scrabble, Pick Up Sticks, Tic Tac Toe and Jenga.
You can check out the Supersized Ph Instagram account since they don’t have any Facebook page as of now.
While we were swimming, Chef Anna quietly set up some snacks for us like Match madeleines, cookies, brownies and these funny cake pops.
You can check out the My Pink Wasabi Facebook Page for details on how to order them.
Thanks to Jane for this photo of me, Richie and Jeff trying our best to sit on the pool floor but hardly doing a good job of it except for Richie who has that posing down pat.
After our little swim, I tried to stay in one place chatting with Richie and Jeff, we retired to our room to shower and change and prepare for our barbecue dinner by the poolside. They have done the barbecue setup for events but its not a regular thing that they offer. The barbecue setup is basically a copy of the one they have at Cafe D Asie. We had our choice of meat, seafood and sausages that were freshly grilled.
I found it so funny they use one of the leeks to baste the sauce while they were grilling.
The night was not yet over as we received some cupcakes courtesy of Kat’s Cafe. My favorite was the Mango Dulce which at first glance looked quite sweet but was really not. Irene’s pick was the Red Velvet, she declares it her favorite red velvet now. Although we did not consume them immediately, both cupcakes were incredibly moist inside. I’ve also gotten a chance to visit the cafe itself located in BF Resort in Las Piñas and will blog about it soon.
Check out the Kat’s Cafe Facebook Page to order and find out how to get to their store.
The next day, we received even more stuff after our lunch at Cafe D’ Asie we got packs of hamonado chorizo from Chorizo de Cebu. I loved the sweet flavor of the chorizo plus the nice blend of fat and meat, best served with fried egg and rice.
Find out how to order the chorizo thru the Chorizo de Cebu Facebook Page.
What a fun weekend filled with laughter and stories over lots and lots of food and goodies.
