Taal Vista Hotel, the English Tudor Mansion style hotel, is a landmark in Tagaytay. Virtually everyone who has ever been to Tagaytay must have a photo taken from the ridge overlooking Taal Volcano. I remember childhood trips to Tagaytay with quick stops for snacks and photos at the Cafe on the Ridge.
I’m never stayed at Taal Vista Hotel until a couple of weeks ago. We were billeted at the East Wing, a recently construction addition to the hotel complex which still retained the English Tudor style. Its a bit of a walk from the main check in area, but will the cool fresh air, I barely noticed it. (who am I kidding, it’s far…). Good thing we discovered a shorter way to go to and fro from our room.
Our room was a Premier Room, quite big with a super comfortable king-sized bed and a small sofa.
There is also a balcony overlooking the lake and volcano.
Great view from our room, would have been nice to wake up and relax on the balcony, breathing in the fresh air but of course we overslept.
The room also comes with a LCD TV as well as WIFI and enough space inside to romp around and even accommodate an extra bed. My only complaint was that their wifi was very very slow…
The toilet was also very spacious and even had a bath tub which Lauren took advantage of. With the amount of space, I just found it odd that they installed a sliding door instead of a regular door.
The breakfast buffet is served at the Cafe on the Ridge which also does lunch and dinner buffets. They even feature a cultural dance show during weekend lunchtime by the Bughaw Dance Troupe, which will definitely thrill out of town guests and even kids like my daughter, Lauren.
For a bit of relaxation, head on over to Asmara Spa where a foot bath in flower petals. The rooms are very nicely done and the therapists are excellent. They will definitely knead your aches and pains away.
Fancy a swim then head on over to the West Wing, where the old hotel rooms can be found. It was bright and sunny so the pool was filled with kids frolicking around.
They are currently renovation all the rooms in the West wing, floor by floor. This is what it would look like when done. The dated decor will be given a modern sprucing up.
It was definitely a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Taal Vista Hotel. Service and amenities are top notch and even before we had to check out, Lauren was already asking when we could go back.

Sorry about the WiFi. Normally, it’s pretty fast. There might have been a problem on the day we were there.
Thanks, Richard! :)
Beautiful place!! You don’t need wifi when you’re there! hahaha! Enjoy the view instead. Suck in all the fresh air. :)
I really like how they remodeled this historical structure in Tagaytay. I actually wish that for the whole ridge, all structures had a theme close to this so that there’s a certain continuity all along the Tagaytay road.
But that’s just me. Hehe
Nice article and very informative. Btw, how about the breakfast buffet is it included in the room rate?
Breakfast is included in the room.
