Bistro Ravioli in SM Mall of Asia

January 24, 2018 by Richard

The first time I encountered Ravioli was at the food court of Robinson’s Galleria. When I found out place was serving freshly made ravioli, I had to go check it out. We tried and loved the ravioli but seldom go to the mall so was surprised to see it gone on a visit a few years ago.

I recently came across Bistro Ravioli in Mall of Asia and went to try it for lunch with Irene. The place isn’t too big but it had a open kitchen where you could see them making fresh dough for pasta, ravioli and pizzas.

We started our lunch with some Diablo Wings (P320). Fried chicken wings coated in spicy barbecue sauce and served with garlic ranch dressing on the side. There a fair bit of spice but the barbecue sauce played a good foil in tempering it and an additional dip in the garlic ranch dressing would have muted most of it. I preferred it without the sauce and enjoyed the sweet and spicy flavors.

Italian Sausage Ravioli in Romescu Sauce (P310). Meaty flavors with the wonderful bite of the ravioli that went great with the nutty sauce. Ravioli is easily shareable since you can just divide the squares among you with some sauce on top. So a few people can order different variants and swap.

Seafood Spaghetti in Marinara Sauce (P290). Fresh spaghetti tossed in pomodoro sauce with generous amounts of shrimps, clams, squid plus olives, capers and bacon. The olives and capers gave the dish a tangy twist that went well with all the sweet and tasty seafood.
I think we ordered too much but I just had to get the Garlic Clam Supreme Pizza (P345/bambino, P530/regular). It’s great they have a bambino (baby) sized pizza which is actually a 9 inch pie with 6 slices. The taste is similar to a vongole pasta with pizza dough substituting as the carb component. Good umami flavors on top of the chewy pizza dough.
Irene and I enjoyed our lunch and we brought home the leftovers for another meal. We’ll be adding Bistro Ravioli for our Mall of Asia lunch options with the reasonable prices and great food.
