I’ve been hearing about this small Greek restaurant in the South called Ble but had not had a chance to venture there yet. Fast forward to a month a go when they did a pop up at Hole in the Wall to serve a limited menu to Makati folks.
Lunch started out with the Greek Salad (P265). Tomatoes, cucumber, onions, capers, olives and feta cheese drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and oregano dressing. Simple and clean flavors using quality ingredients make for an excellent dish.
Souvlaki (P265), you can have it open or served as a wrap. We tried the lamb and chicken both were delicious, as with the salad the flavors were simple and unadulterated. My vote would go to the lamb between the two.
Pork Steak ala Greca (P350). Grilled pork steak with a secret marination and sides of rice pilaf, salad, and tzatziki. The meat was nicely grilled but I found the flavor a little lacking compared to the souvlakis.
Wash your meal down with their Greek Yogurt Shakes (P180), available in plain, strawberry, mango and salted.
For dessert we had Baclava (P215) and Loukoumades (P180). Their home made baclava is made up of 50 filo sheets with pistachios and soaked in a special syrup. This is the first time I’ve tried loukoumades, it something like small doughnuts, fried then tossed in honey and cinnamon.
Ble Greek Restaurant had a great pop up run that they are going to be opening a new branch in Makati. For now, you can visit their branch in the South.

The other new concept I got to try at Hole in the Wall was Serious Dough Pizza Company by Chef Steve, formerly of Il Ponticello. This concept replaced Pho Bo Bo and is sandwiched between Scout’s Honor and Posporo so you won’t miss it. There’s pizza making right in front that kids will enjoy the tossing and kneading. Their pizza is a combination between crunchy and chewy so you’ll get both in each slice. They are still on soft opening so menu and pizza availability is fluctuating.
The No Meat Treat (P350) is a vegetarian’s dream pizza. Roasted vegetable base topped with zucchini tempura, crumbled feta cheese and drizzled with olive oil.
The Screamin Squash Pizza (P390) is a stunner. I love squash so this is like my dream squash pizza using a grilled squash puree as a base with squash seeds and fried squash flowers to continue the squash overload. Bacon slab lardon cubes and sour cream finish off this enjoyable pizza.
The Nutella Bleu Smores Pizza (P500) is a dessert pizza with a surprising twist. Nutella base with graham crumble, roasted marshmallows, mantecado ice cream and bleu cheese underneath. At first glance you’d be as weirded out as I was but the funky taste mixed well with the strong nutella flavor resulting in a great balance. A bit messy to eat with the dripping ice cream but fun.
