Bondi and Bourke in Forbes Town Center, BGC

September 28, 2016 by Richard

Bondi and Bourke, specializes in Australian cuisine, was one of those new restaurants that I wanted to check out but for some reason did not get around to. The perfect opportunity came up when they opened their second branch in Forbes Town Center, BGC. It’s in the new restaurant row with neighbors like Casa Italia and Locavore.

The restaurant is a beauty, high ceilings and full glass frontage bring in lots of light while the other details are simple but classy.

The menu is simple and compact filled with continental fare and Australian specialties. We browsed the menu and quickly ordered our choice because it was close to 1pm and we were getting a bit hungry.

Lauren got the Fish and Chips (P630).  Generous pieces of beer battered snapper on a bed of crispy french fries. Served with tartare sauce, grilled lemon and Marie Rose sauce. Lauren skipped all the sauces and just went after the dish with gusto. She gave it her approval, one of the best if not the best she’s had in Manila

Irene chose the Grilled Australian Lamb Chops (P1,490). 4 perfectly grilled lamb chops served with french beans, grilled lemon and a potato and brie puree. Each chop was well seasoned, tender and bursting with flavor. The potato and brie puree will have you throwing out any thoughts of skipping on carbs. I wish I ordered this also.

I fixated on a few items but decided on the Meat Pie (P475). A medium sized puff pasty filled with braised Australian beef and caramelized onions. I got the salad side instead of fries because I wanted it light. I split the pie open so you guys can see that there’s absolutely no extenders, all tender and tasty beef.

Our first visit to Bondi and Bourke was a great one, it’s now been added to our favorite restaurants in Manila and we highly recommend it. I can’t wait to go back and try a few more dishes I had my eye on.
