What’s New at Bono Artisanal Gelato

May 7, 2014 by Richard

Bono Artisanal Gelato, the brand I credit for single-handedly opening my tastes buds to what real gelato tastes like. For this summer they’ve introduced some light and fruity Filipino leaning flavors. The first two flavors that were available was the Ube and the Mango, two flavors that are very familiar to our local palates.

Last week I got a chance to try two upcoming flavors, Buko Pandan and Mango Sake.

Bono Artisanal Gelato Buko Pandan

The Buko Pandan uses young coconut strips, coconut milk and pandan leaves. The resulting creation is a light yet creamy gelato with bits of coconut that you can bite on. This is a sure fire way to cool down this summer.

Bono Artisanal Gelato Mango Sake

The Mango Sake is an interesting flavor, using mango cubes soaked in sake for 48 hours. One taste and you’ll taste the flavor of the sake/rice wine. The jelly like texture of the mango cubes is what I enjoyed and that plays well with the creamy gelato. I feel this flavor is not something everyone will like but it will definitely have its fans. This flavor will only be sold to adults.

Bono Artisanal Gelato Molten Brownie

Another new addition to their menu is the Molten Brownie Sundae (P200). It starts off with a fudge brownie in a paper cup that’s heated up in a microwave to make it gooey, then a scoop of Vanilla bean gelato is placed on top of it.

Hot fudge sauce is then poured on top of the sundae before serving.

Mix it up a bit and be sure to get some of the gelato and some of the brownie for a mix of hot and cold.

Bono Artisanal Gelato Vanilla Bean

Fans of the classic and simple flavor, Vanilla Bean, like Lauren are ecstatic about it’s return to Bono’s lineup.

Bono Artisanal Gelato Taho

Irene is also very happy that her all time favorite Taho gelato complete with muscovado syrup.
