Brotzeit German Bier Bar starts off 2020 with their Prosperity Menu for platters of good luck. This special limited time menu will be available until March 2020 only.
Sausage and Shrimp Dumpling (P420). Baked dumplings stuffed with sausage, shrimps and pineapple and served with spicy mustard garlic dip. This reminded me so much of the “sipa” from Wok-Inn which I have not had in many many years but that was fried so a fair bit oilier. The filling for this dumpling is dominated by flavor the sausage, I could hardly taste the shrimp but that doesn’t detract from how delicious these fortune bags are.
Pulled Pork Croquette (P190). Fried breaded croquette filled with Bavarian pulled pork.
Wild Mushroom Maultaschen (P450). Pasta pockets stuffed with wild mushroom and topped with sage seasoned burnt butter. A pretty unassuming dish that packed quite a flavor punch, my favorite dish from the prosperity menu. The earthiness of the mushroom stuffing complements the smoky burnt butter sauce and there’s even a surprise crunch from crushed pork rinds.
Chicken Supreme (P490). Roast chicken doesn’t scream culinary excitement but Brotzeit’s version tries to give it a modern twist. The chicken is served on a bed of bell pepper and potato casserole surrounded by red bell pepper sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender with flavorful savory skin which went really well with the mildly sweet sauce.
Prosperity Platter (P3800). Brotzeit always has a special platter and this one is brimming full with food enough to feed 6-8 people. Their signature Pork knuckle is the surrounded by grilled pork chops, baked salmon strudel and a selection of their best sausages. A special bacon onion pie and roasted potatoes serve as the sides. The porkchop, salmon and bacon pie is part of the prosperity menu and can be ordered separately. My favorite is their meterwurst which is served during Oktoberfest and is not available on their menu.
Grilled Pork Chop (P690). Oven roasted and served with a side of bacon onion pie and a tangy sweet mandarin orange vinaigrette.
Baked Salmon Strudel (P690). Herb marinated salmon is baked inside a flaky Phyllo pastry and served with garden salad. This is a good choice for sea food lovers overwhelmed by the dazzling array of meat choices.
Bacon Onion Pie (P350). At first glance, this looks like an plain omelette of sorts but the bottom is actually a flaky shortbread crust and topped with generous amounts of bacon and sweet onions this eggy pie a must.
