Bucky’s, Bun Appetit and Le Chon @ The Grid

November 18, 2019 by Richard

It’s another visit to The Grid Food Market in Rockwell, this time to try Bucky’s, Bun Appetit and Le Chon.

Stall 1 – Bucky’s

First up is Bucky’s , famous for their “not brownies” but have ventured to serve a variety of savory dishes.

Twister Fries (P150). Craving for some fried and seasoned curly fries but your usual fast food place doesn’t serve them anymore. Bucky’s has got you covered and in my opinion, this is better tasting and bit more generous plus the price is slightly cheaper.

Baked Ziti (P350). Baked ziti with tomato sauce, melted cheese and meat ragu for a filling yet easily shared dish. I’m not really sure why they serve it on a sizzling plate but I surprisingly enjoyed this while not being a fan of tubular hollow pasta.

Fried Chicken (P260). 4 pieces of boneless chicken thigh, with a side of gravy. I was surprised how good these were, crispy with no greasiness, with flavor all throughout the chicken.

Swedish Meatballs (P375). Bucky’s version of the IKEA cult favorite is leagues better with meatballs that are meaty, tasty gravy plus bonus marble potatoes.

Chicken Parm Sandwich (P380). This was excellent, a thick piece of breaded chicken breast topped with meaty marinara sauce, and melted cheese in between ciabatta bread.

Softserve (P150). I was stuffed by the time the soft serve sundae with brown butter polvorone and salted caramel was served, but I never turn down ice cream. The soft serve was creamy and milky with the toppings serving to enhance rather than overpower.

Stall 4 Le Chon

I’ve had the Lechon Porchetta (P365) a few times before and enjoyed it a lot especially the mixing and matching of sides and sauces. They’ve got new mains like the Lechon Angus Beef Belly (P495), Lechon Spicy Tuna (P299), Lechon Sisig (P320), and Lechon Gourmet Manok (P299). My faves are the porchetta and sisig with kamote fries and grilled talong as sides then muscovado liver sauce.

Stall 11: Bun Appetit

I first tried the Bun Appetit Lobster Roll (P695, add P50 for aioli) at Hole in the Wall, a few years back but since then have had it a number of times at The Grid. We enjoyed the lobster roll every time with it’s crisp butter toast and tasty lobster pieces. It was the first time for me to try out the Crab Roll (P495, add P50 for aioli) and it was equally delicious, it’s more creamy and more densely packed which meant more of it in every bite.

Shrimp Avocado Toast (P350). Avocado toast is all the rage right now, Bun Appetit goes a step above by smoking the avocado then adding shrimps and a sprinkle of chili flakes.

Shrimp Grilled Cheese (P350),  This is perfect for cheese lovers looking for a new twist. The salty cheese combo of Elemental and Parmesan with the added crunch and sweetness of shrimp.

Have you tried any of these stalls at The Grid Food Market? Might be time to give it another visit because of the dizzying amount of stalls to try.
