Chili’s Philippines is undergoing a little change in its look, as well as introducing their new tagline – “More Life Happens Here“. Chili’s is also introducing four (4) new dishes to give diners something new every time they visit their stores. Irene and I got a chance to try out the new dishes and see if they might replace our regular Chili’s orders like our last discovery, the Honey Chipotle Chicken crispers.
We started off the dinner with some Fried Quesadilla Bites (P375). Southwest chicken quesadillas are cut up, coated in a batter then deep fried to a satisfying crisp and served with chipotle sour cream sauce. The bites are not greasy and the batter is just right, nice finger food to share and pair with your beverage of choice, alcoholic or not.
Pair your food with their new Sparkling Sodas (P125), made from a mix of strawberry puree and soda .
There’s two versions for this next Parmesan cheese based dish. The first was the Parmesan Chicken (P395). A piece of juicy, perfectly cooked chicken breast topped with Parmesan and Monterey Jack cheeses. A drizzling of chili butter gives it a creamy and lightly spicy kick. The chicken breast is a bit too thick to absorb all the flavors of the cheeses, which led to a better tasting top and plain chicken breast on the bottom.
The other version is the Parmesan Tilapia (P425). The dish uses a large piece of imported tilapia fillet that’s topped with the same Parmesan and Monterey Jack cheeses as well as finished with the chili butter. This is the better option for me compared to the chicken. The fillet is thinner so the flavors are better absorbed and the ends get a crisp so it adds a nice texture.
The last new main dish is the Bacon and Cheddar Steak (P 875). This is a meaty mix not for the protein fanatics. Slices of bacon are laid on top of Southwest seasoned steak and then finished off with melted cheddar cheese. You can have your pick of 2 sides for the three new entrees, my picks are cilantro rice, mashed potatoes and fresh veggies.
Banana Bread Pudding (P295). A piece of banana bread pudding is paired with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and crowned with cinnamon, walnuts and caramel sauce. I found this a bit lacking in banana flavor and the texture of the pudding too dense. I’d still prefer to get a dessert from their classics.
Have you tried any of these new dishes at Chili’s? Which one did you like best?
