For Lauren’s birthday we asked her where she wanted to eat. She quickly answered the pigeon place, which we know as Choi Garden. She does not really remember restaurant names, she just remembers what food she likes there.
As soon as we sat down, we ordered Lauren usual, two Fried Pigeon (P350/each) and Meatball Congee (P120, not pictured). Each pigeon was cut into four pieces plus the head. I think Lauren polished off six pieces as well as most of the congee except she left the meatballs for us. The pigeon were very crispy on the outside but super juicy inside. The kropek on the side were also still crispy and hot.
We added E-fu noodles with Straw Mushroom (P320) for long life since its a birthday tradition. The serving was good enough for Irene and me and we even had some for takeout. The noodles were cooked very well and did not leave an oily taste in the mouth.
Sweet and Sour Pork (P240. small order) was the last thing we ordered. I found the sweet and sour sauce very good, just enough to coat all the pork pieces. Although I think the pork pieces are too thick, thinner slices would produce a nicer crunch in each bite.
A wonderful dinner to celebrate Lauren’s birthday, watching her happily go through her dinner with a smile on her face.
