No visit to Kikufuji in Little Tokyo, Makati is complete without going to Choto Stop, located next door . Their logo looks like it was inspired from Ministop. Once you enter the shop, your senses are exposed to dazzling array of Japanese food items, almost all are priced at P75. Although, some of the frozen and bigger items are priced higher but the price is clearly indicated.
They do not stock the same exact items always; it depends on what they receive from Japan. They have potato chips in different flavors, instant noodles, candies, condiments, chocolates, cookies and drinks. I go there to buy reasonably priced Japanese soy sauce priced at P75 for 1 liter, a far cry from the more than a P130 price for Kikoman.
Lauren buys her favorite Japanese French vanilla ice cream here, actually 2 square packs. All their ice cream is priced at P75. Imagine my surprise seeing the same items priced at P150 at Kombini grocery in Connecticut St. in Greenhills.
They even fly in vegetables, fruits and other items from Japan 3x a week.
The only caveat with a singular pricing is some items will be cheaper while some more expensive compared to other Japanese stores. So what we do is we buy selectively. We usually refrain from buying small packs of candies like Hi-chew which is cheaper by P10 in our other Japanese grocery, Hatchin.
*Prices have now increased to P80*

Hello! Have you seen Japanese doughnut biscuits there? Thank you! :-)
I’m not familiar with those so I don’t look for them.
