Cinq Dessert Boutique; Fine French Desserts

March 20, 2014 by Richard

Cinq Dessert Boutique is quaint little French patisserie located in Jupiter, where Big Better Burgers used to be. Angela Villoria, who studied pastry making in the US, France and Manila, is the talent behind Cinq (sank). Cinq is French for five and represents the  5 major ingredients used in baking flour, sugar, eggs, milk/cream and butter.

There’s a dreamy display of assorted French desserts that will immediately capture your attention as you step into the store. There are about 8 seats where you can immediately consume the desserts if the urge gets the better of you.

I spotted these flavored salt on the shelves that sell an assortment of dry goods. These should be perfect with a nice piece of steak. There are other small stuff like meringues, vanilla bean pods and baking chocolates on the shelves.

We started the tasting with some fruit based desserts to not let it be overpowered by the stronger chocolate based ones. The Ligaya is a dayap (Philippine lime ) tart is a melding of a Filipino ingredient executed in a french pastry. The cheesecake like filling has a nice citrusy punch.

The Lexi, available in Strawberry and Mango, was up next. I tried both versions and found myself liking the mango more despite my predilection for strawberries. The softer texture and extra sweetness made a better partner for the cheesecake mousse.

The Pascale, a chocolate and  orange mousse cake is a rare chocolate dessert that I enjoy. I’m a sucker for any thing that is made up of chocolate and orange plus executed in a smooth mousse.

The Aurore is a chocolate tart with caramel and macadamias.

The Monica is a dark chocolate mousse with a hazelnut crunch.

Angela has created 2 new desserts, so new that both did not even have names yet. The one I enjoyed was the pink colored globe made with pomelos, rose water and a bit of edible gold. Cinq’s mini cakes make be a tad more expensive but you can see the detail that goes into each one (2nd pic). Look at all the different layers that make up that small cake, and this was supposed to have been a simplified version.

Sweets and desserts not to your liking, Cinq Dessert Boutique has some freshly baked breads like croissants, buns and tarts.

Here’s Angela holding one of her prized creations, a regular sized Lexi Strawberry.

Cinq Dessert Boutique  produces some of the most exquisite desserts in Manila. Each ingredient is made from scratch because of Angela’s passion for the craft, so won’t be seeing any shortcuts in the creation.
