I’m familiar with Cold Stone Creamery, having tried it in Singapore and South Korea. I’m glad they finally decided to open in the Philippines many many years after their initial test market way back in 2005. Cold Stone Creamery opened it’s first store in Tempe, Arizona in 1988. It’s a wonderful ice cream parlor concept store and is perfectly suited to our hot environs and our penchant for sweets. They plan to open 4 stores this year with their first store in the Philippines located in Serendra opening sometime next week, check out their Facebook page to get the exact date.
Every order at Cold Stone starts at the counter where you choose your size from names like Lick it (plain ice cream in cone), Like it, Love it, Gotta have it, Mine, Ours and Everybody’s. Prices for ice cream only range from P95-1165, Create your own (includes 1 mix-in) from P180-1200 and Signature Creations which range from P168 to 1188.
If you prefer just plain ice cream then you can just pick from one of their 20 available flavors and you’re done but that’s not the real Cold Stone Creamery experience.
The real Cold Stone experience starts with you picking one of their Signature Creations or making your own concoctions. The Signature creations are a much better deal since they contain a number of mix-ins already.
This is the finished product, cake batter ice cream with sprinkles, brownies and fudge. Bright, sweet and fun.
Want to make your ice cream extra special? You can choose to have them put it in dipped waffle bowls or cones (extra charge).
Look at what I spotted from their mix-in choices, dried mangoes and choc-nut. They will even be coming up with some local flavors in the near future.
I also got to try another signature creations, this time around it was a strawberry based one called Our Strawberry Blonde. It had strawberry ice cream, graham cracker pie crust, strawberries, caramel and whipped cream. Yum, yum, yum.
Aside from the ice cream, they also have ice cream cakes, ice cream cupcakes, shakes and a lot of other stuff. I think I know what I want for my next birthday.
What sets Cold Stone apart is that they make their super premium ice cream in the premises daily. There is also a nice and exciting show as they mix up your order on the refrigerated tables. The staff are still getting the hang of things and I hope you don’t expect them to do the stunts that other countries can do.
