Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew is a pub and bistro in the far corner of Greenbelt 3’s third floor. It’s old world facade of bricks, black and bronze belie the culinary creations within.
This is actually 2 appetizers served in one plate, Buffalo Wings (P265) and Animal Fries (P245). The picture shown above is about 2 orders of wings and 1 order of animal fries tucked in the middle. The buffalo wings leans toward the crispy side but still retains the sour and spicy flavors. The animal fries should be a crowd pleaser, its topped with ground beef, bacon, cheese and jalapenos.
Clam Chowder (P295), served in a bread bowl. A hearty and creamy soup with potatoes, clams and bacon. I suggest you shared this since the bread bowl really fills you up.
Looking for some special cocktails to pair with your meals then the Dillinger’s Sour and Mangave should be a delight. Both drinks are artistically presented and according to my friends, packs a big flavor punch in the liquor department (no diluting here).
The Truffle Pasta (P295) is a simple looking dish, pretty much all white, with truffle cream and parmesan. It announces itself by the truffle aroma and envelopes you in its creaminess. Truffle lovers should go crazy with this.
Go Hawaiian with the Loco Moco (P295), a big piece of sirloin burger on top of jamabalaya rice with a fried egg layed on top and gravy on the sides. This was my first time to try this dish and I have to say the meeting was pretty good. The steak was a bit too cooked for my tastes ( I have them cooked medium) but should be adequate for most. This is a great deal considering the price, I think this can even be shared by 2 people.
If you prefer something light, the Cajun Grouper (P395), served with a mango-tomato salsa is a nice choice. Two medium sized pieces of grouper grilled with cajun seasoning for a little spicy kick then topped with a sweet and savory salsa.
A hush descended on our table when the humongous Tomahawk Steak (P2995) was brought out. 42 oz of bone in rib eye, perfectly grilled and seasoned with a side of mac n’ cheese. Perfectly cooked medium, with salt provided on the side if you prefer to add. This is one big piece of steak, and at that price I’d say its a great deal.
While enjoying the food at Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew, we saw a number of people going thru the corridor and disappearing. After our meal we decided to investigate. There a fire escape like door with the sign above. We were told to push away and be assured that no alarm will sound. The door actually leads to a hidden speakeasy called Prohibition.
Inside Prohibition, Diageo Reserve World Class 2013 Philippines leg Bartender of the Year, Allan-King Roxas and Sam Alcantara hold court behind the bar, dishing out cocktail after creative cocktail.
Here are some of their drinks at Prohibition, including a rum based one with popcorn.
Irene had the Pink Lady, a mixture of Tanqueray gin, fresh lemons and sugar syrup, and really enjoyed it.
Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew serves really good bar food with some nice and unusual surprises like the Tomakhawk and the Loco Moco. They have lots of good cocktails made by their two resident award winning bartenders. A hidden speakeasy at the back of the place adds to the gangster charm.
