Flatiron 1771 in Uptown Place Mall has been around since the mall opened but they’ve gone thru a few iterations before finally finding the right look. I would describe their current look as casual elegance, there a sense of luxury but it’s still homey and comforting similar to how they’ve created their new menu.
They’ve recently added an outdoor bar located beside the fountain that features specially created cocktails like the Earl grey based Christopher Street (P319.99) and apple pie inspired Big Apple (P239.99). You can pair the drinks with their new small plates of bar chow.
Start off with the shareable Potato Skins Platter (P499.99). It’s a sampler trio composed of smoked salmon, beef brisket and tuna so you can try a little of each.

Seafood Jambalaya (P749.99). A creole dish that mixes Spanish and French influences that is very similar to paella. Tasty rice with vegetables and sausages then topped with a medley of shrimps, mussels, clams and squid. I love jambalaya and hardly see it in any menu so it was a welcome surprise, tastes like paella but comes with a bit of spice to whip your tastes buds to action.
Prime Rib Steak with Toasted Fat (P529.99/100 grams). Angus prime rib browned and served with toasted fat and potatoes. A trio of sauces (blue cheese butter, bois boudran sauce and chimichurri) accompanies the steak with my favorite being the bois boudran.
The new Peanut Butter Delice (P250) is also a good choice with it’s layers of praline, peanut butter ganache, hazelnut, almond and cashew sponge and peanut butter mousse. Lots of nutty flavors but not too sweet.Flatiron 1771 does not rely on the trend of over the top gimmicks but instead sticks to simple, familiar fare given a nice twist. The price points are reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients. I’d readily go back and have the chicken piccata again and again.
