City of Dreams Manila recently opened their unique entertainment hub called The Garage. It’s a food park and a Bandai Namco VR Zone combined in a 2,700 sqm. industrial inspired, fully air conditioned area beside Dreamplay. This will be Southeast Asia’s first and will feature 3 VR zone experiences, Mario Kart VR, Ski Rodeo and Hospital Escape Terror.
I predict that the most popular one will be Mario Kart VR. This is upto 4 player competitive race where you play as one of four characters (Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Yoshi) while Bowser and Wario are computer controlled. You use your hands to grab and use hammers, shells and bananas to hinder your opponents and drive your way to victory. This is amazing fun and the best VR experience at the Garage.
Hospital Escape Terror is a cooperative VR horror experience where upto 4 players work together to escape. You are dropped inside a creepy hospital with death and scares at every corner and you’ll have to work together with your fellow gamers, communication is key as well as being the most important thing. I tried it and the expletives and screams were flying left and right.
The Ski Rodeo simulates the thrill and suspense of slaloming down a cold peak as you navigate the steep slopes, trees and gorges. It didn’t look scary but once you strap in and start you’ll feel the chills as you careen off the side of the cliff, hit square on a tree while seeing and feeling the cool wind. I suggest bringing appropriate footwear like sneakers if not they provide rubber clogs for you to use to enjoy the experience properly.
The VR experiences are priced at P450 per single activity and P1,200 for all 3. Special packages for pairs in Ski Rodeo at P800 and quartets for Mario Kart and Hospital Terror at P1,600.
For the food park area, they currently have 10 stalls/trucks that serve a wide range of savory and sweet dishes as well as sweets and drinks. Each food purveyor is housed inside a beautifully designed “truck” or a trailer.
The seating area is good enough for 563 people with a wide range of choices. There are interesting murals peppered throughout the space created by Kookoo Ramos and Deejae Paeste.
If you love chocolates, don’t miss checking out Chocol8 and their amazing cheese chocolate bar with slivers of Parmesan cheese. Their other offerings use a lot of local ingredients to create interesting and unique combinations.
The Bar offers a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to pair with food from other outlets.
El Chupacabra serves street tacos, burritos, enchiladas and other Mexican influenced dishes.
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka serves their signature Shio tonkotsu ramen as well as other ramen variants.
Katsu Sora will serve Japanese meals based on their specialty tonkatsu.
The Wildflour group has their Filipino rice bowls from Little Flour and smacking hot dogs from Pinks Hotdogs.
They are also serving great ice cream from Farmacy.
Juiced will be serving fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and slushies and other healthy creations.
Pizza Grigliata serves freshly made super thin artisan pizzas and special pasta creations.
The Roaster is where you head to satisfy your caffeine fix. They brew only local beans on site to guarantee freshness as well as highlight the excellence of our local coffee.
