On a recent trip to Singapore’s Universal Studios, we chanced upon Garrett popcorn shop. We’ve tried almost all the local caramel popcorn products from Goldilock’s, Chef Tony’s and Chicago popcorn. I still have fond memories of the semi see thru packaging of the Goldilock’s popcorn of my childhood.
My SIL told us that Garrett is what she buys everyday when she goes to Chicago, she can even finish the whole can in 1 sitting. She wasted no time in convincing us to try while she already ordered her can.  We tried the samples and was hooked, ignoring the expensive price to bring home 1 can ourselves.
The had some varieties with different nuts like pecan, cashew and macadamia but we ordered the Chicago mix which is Cheese and Caramel, a mix of sweet and salty in every bite. We found the cheese to only be ok, so we had a pure Caramel can for our next one.

For every can you buy, they give you 1 cute little scooper for getting the goodies out of the can.

The caramel coating of each kernel is much much greater as you can see in the above comparison. The caramel coating on the Garrett one is so much thicker hence the darker color. We later found out the Chicago Pop Corn in MOA patterned themselves after Garrett. I guess to keep costs lower they use less caramel on their popcorn.
You might have noticed that we’ve got 2 different colored cans already, the blue one was bought home by a friend last month from Singapore while our pink one was bought in May.
If ever you visit Universal Studios in Singapore, don’t forget to grab a bag or can of Garrett’s on your way home.
