BBX is the new restaurant of the Tasteless group who also run Bad Bird, Fowlbread, Flowerboy and Beefier. BBX is a semi self service fast food joint that features dishes from their different restaurants like Bad Bird, Fowlbread and Beefier. Aesthetics are hip and modern with emphasis on black and grey. You order at the counter with a clear and bright menu in the background and wait for your food to be available.
Semi self service means you collect your food when it is ready, you even warp them for take away yourself.
Fried Chicken Plate (P179, +P20 for boneless). I’ve never been a fan of Bad Bird’s fried chicken, the few times I’ve tried it, flavor was concentrated on the skin part which I don’t eat. I gave it another try and I was so surprised that the flavor has permeated into the meat and the side gravy was also legit good. The option to go boneless is also perfect for those lazy times you just want to devour your food quickly.
Longganisa & Egg (P229). 2 pieces of well seasoned longganisa patties served with egg, rice and atchara. I cut up everything and mixed it up and it was so equal parts meat and fatty flavor. There’s also a burger version of that might be even better from the looks of it.
Corn and Cream Cheese (P89, P99 with iced tea). This was a surprising combination that I never knew could work. Sweetness from the corn plus the creaminess from the cheese with a bit of saltiness.
Ruben Sandwich (P289), toasted sourdough with corned beef, pickled onions and cheese. I’ve always wanted to give the Ruben at Beefier a try but there was always something else that catches my eye. BBX’s version is smaller and does not have sauerkraut but that does not detract from the enjoyment I had with the sandwich. The corned beef was generous and the pickled onions add a contrasting crunch to go with the gooey cheese. I found it just the right size and you won’t struggle to finish the whole thing and still have room for dessert or milk tea.
Mango Coconut Huskies (P119). Got this cup for dessert because I was curious why it was named after a breed of dog. It was a creamy dessert with mango and nata de coco cubes to go with coconut bits. Pretty good end to the meal.
