The Grid Food Market in Rockwell keeps it fresh with the introduction of a limited time holiday menu as well as an expansion with 6 new stalls and 160 new seats including a large function room.
Enchilada Verde (P250) from La Chinesca. Not sure how this ties to the holidays but who cares if it tastes good. The enchiladas are filled with chicken, salsa verde, salsa fresca, lettuce, cheese and cilantro.
Quezo De Bola Tsukemen (P420) from Tsuke-men. Their usual tsukemen is given a holiday reinforcement with a bowl of creamy queso de bola dip. We dipped our chewy cold noodles in the tonkotsu broth first before a final dip in the qdb sauce for a creamy and sharp salty coating. You can also dip in only one but it’s the holidays so go crazy.
Pork “Hamgyupsal” (P430) from Stall #6/Gochu-gang. They take the humble pork belly and marinades it in a sweet and fruity concoction before grilling. It is finished off with a topping of pineapple kimchi which gives a spicy sweet kick. This is served as a complete set with banchan, rice and lettuce wrap.
The Ham Burger (P390) from Beefier is just an inspired combination. They add slices of smoky sweet Christmas ham and slather a layer of pineapple marmalade to their classic burger for a burst of flavors. This gets the thumbs up of approval from Lauren and me so hopefully they keep this on the menu permanently.
Whats the holidays without some Bibingka (P190) and Puto Bumbong (P120) from Stall #5/Le Chon. Their mini bibingkas are topped with 3 kinds of cheeses and served with a side of shredded coconut. Their puto bumbong comes with muscovado sugar, coconut jam, butter and shredded coconut. Both are good but we’d still rate all time favorite Via Mare above them.
Chocolato from Risa Chocolates. A trio of gelato flavors developed by Risa Chocolate and Zarah’s Gelato, each scoop you order comes with a mini chocolate bar. Single Origin Dark Chocolate gelato (P170) is perfect for the chocolate lovers, I prefer the White Choco Straciatella gelato (P170) and Salted Butter White choco gelato (P170) instead. The salted butter gelato was so good we even though it had a slight cheezy flavor.
Eggnog (P300/glass, P950/carafe). I was clueless what goes into an eggnog so with my first sip I was treated to a mixture of bourbon, rum, vermouth, milk, eggs and a little syrup. I then proceeded the pass the pretty glass to Irene who quite enjoyed it.
