J.CO Donuts and Coffee will be opening its very first Philippine outlet on Mar. 15, 2012 at the The Strip in Megamall. J.CO is a premium Asian brand that hails from Indonesia, where the first store opened in Jakarta in 2005. The company has over 100 in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Shanghai and now the Philippines.
I remember seeing long queues in front of the J.CO store located at the Pavillion Mall in Malaysia during my trip there last 2008. I got curious but after seeing how long the line was, I just moved on and ate something else. Good thing, I finally got a taste when J.CO. sent over 3 boxes of donuts for me to sample.
The first box I opened contained an assortment of flavors. It was a beautiful mix of browns, reds and greens. I actually had a hard time choosing what to try since I’m not really a fan of chocolate.
I was able to try the pink swirly one called Heaven Berry, the donut was very soft to the bite, with a nice tasty strawberry filling inside. I found the whole donut not sweet at all, a far cry from the saccharine overdose caused by Krispy Kreme, where I can only eat 1.
Find yourself not finishing the box of donuts, then a quick zap in the microwave, 8 seconds to be exact, and voila its as good as new.
My favorite was the so called Snow White variant, with a delicate white powder covering the top and light cream inside. I love powdered sugar , add to that light cream filling reminiscent of a beautifully done bavarian and I’ve got my favorite.
The other box was composed of only 1 kind of donut, the Al Capone. The Al Capone is J.CO’s best selling donut, white chocolate and generous amount of California almonds blanketing the donut.
From the ones I’ve tried I can conclude that J.CO donuts are soft and the sweetness is just right. I can’t wait to really try the fresh off the oven donuts to get them at their best. I also want to try their coffee creations, frozen yougurt and sandwich offerings.
So head on over to SM Megamall on Mar. 15, 2012 at 9 AM to catch the opening of the first J.CO Donut and Coffee store in the Philippines. J.CO. has prepared a special treat for the first 200 customers to visit on that day.

They do look good and beautifully crafted :) I remember when GoNuts Donuts first opened and lines wrapped around that building in the Fort Strip. Here’s hoping J. Co makes it big here.
I’ve been seeing a lot of ads and billboards for this one. Will definitely try this one soon :)
Can’t wait to get a bite of that Al Capone :D
