Jatujak

July 23, 2010 by Richard

On a recent trip to SM Megamll, we had lunch at Jatujak, our go to place when we are craving for Thai shrimp cakes. We liked their version better than Crustasia’s, it just tastes like the used more shrimps.
We also order the ever popular Bagoong Rice, the serving was very big and the rice was spilling out of the plate while mixing it. I think we only finish less than half and had the rest wrapped up. The sidings were more than adequate and mixed in very well with the rice.I love the sweet pork since their version contains just the right amount of sweetness as a foil to the saltiness of the rice. The green mangoes and onions provide a nice crunch.

I picked Green Chicken curry to accompany our rice. Good thing the server asked us what is the spice level we wanted, we choose mild only. This dish was very tasty with large pieces of sliced chicken in coconut milk which made it very fragrant and flavorful. I also like the eggplant and bell pepper pieces in the dish as they soaked in the sauce. I think this would be even better with the plain rice as it would allow the taste to be more evident.

I’m excited to try some more items on the menu but will always order the Shrimp cakes. We had some misses the first time we ate here namely the Thia iced tea, which taste like the instant stuff from supermarkets in Thailand.
