Karada Philippines is a franchise of the most popular Seitai (body maintenance) salon in Japan. The place looked too bright and cherry compared to the usual zen like atmosphere of most massage places. Those looking for the usual run of the mill massage should head elsewhere but if you are looking to correct problems in your body then this is the place. Irene and I were invited to try out their branch in Serendra, which opened a little over a month ago.
Mr. Bones will be there to greet you by the door. He’s nice and clean and posed in one of the Karada stretches. Once you reach the counter, they will ask you to fill up a basic health form which also asks for your problem areas. Since I am usually at the computer and sometimes unknowingly slouch and this causes pain the upper back and neck area.
They recommend the AP Balance (P treatment for first timers so the therapists can assess your problem areas. The AP Balance aligns the first cervical bone (atlas) and the pelvis. It is a mixture of chiro, osteotheraphy, thai massage and is a signature treatment at KARADA Philippines.
So bright and sunny with nice pops of color, which really appeals to me. You’ll also notice that there are no dividers in between the treatment beds. The Serendra branch looks more like Karada Factory branches in Japan compared to the other 2 branches in Glorietta and Radisson. The beds look nice, clean and most importantly sturdy.
The therapist will come and interview you before starting the treatment. After the assessment of problem areas and mobility as well as leg-length discrepancies. My legs were both the same length but some of the others were not so after the treatment they gained around a half inch in height. Pretty amazing stuff.
Once the assessment is finished, muscle treatment will be performed. This is more familiar with pressure being applied to sore muscles to relax them.
The next step is Alignment, where a different specialist will come over and apply AP Balance. This is done so that the spine and pelvis are adjusted to achieve good balance. If the specialist finds it hard to stretch your body, she will move you to the drop bed. A mechanical bed with different levers to help with leverage. This is not related to weight or size since I did not need this but Irene required the use of it.
The final part of the treatment is the Rationale, where in the specialist will explain what had been the root causes of the pains in your body as related to one’s lifestyle.
I was advised to avoid any strenuous activity for at least 24 to 48 hours else the treatment will be for naught. I came in skeptical but left with a slight bounce in my step. I felt the soreness hours later and especially the next morning.
Do you have aches and pains that never seem to go away? You should give KARADA Philippines and try.
