Made in Candy opened in Rockwell with colorful fanfare a few years ago regaling mall goers with twists of colors and artistic candies. We had previously seen the live in store candy making in Hong Kong. You can’t help but stop and observe as the candy artists go about the process in a kaleidoscope of color.
A couple of weeks ago, we got invited to try our hand at making our own candies at the Glorietta branch of Made in Candy. I was going to be documenting the experience while Lauren and Irene will be hands on with the candy making.
Candy making starts with sugar, lots of it.
It is boiled to a specific temperature to be able to mold it.
Colors and flavors are added to achieve the wonderful designs. Lauren and I love the grape flavored candies while Irene is partial to Lemon.
Jane requested them to design a pink piggy for that day’s candy making experience. The made a special blueprint to achieve the design, they don’t do this anymore for their regular variants because they’ve memorized everything.
Tools and gloves, the candy get’s very hot so everyone who participate must glove up.
Assembling the piggy nose using different colors.
Once you go through the process , you’ll be even more impressed with the candy artisans. Candy making is hard and they seem to do it with a flourish.
Here are the bigger pieces that will be made into lollipops, a new product at Made in Candy. The pink piggy design is so adorable that I think they should put this into their regular rotation.
These long white sticks will be cut quickly to become the small pieces of hard candy, Made in Candy is known for.
Getting Made in Candy bottles are always a treat and they make perfect giveaways for parties and weddings. I’ve received a lot of bottles from different brands who love that the candy artists can add their logos.

What a wonderful experience it might have been to actually witness the step by step process of making that piggy candy! I agree with you – they’re absolutely perfect as party and wedding favours, especially since you can get them to create candies in custom designs.
It really was a great experience. The candy makers are really artists with the way they can manipulate sugar.
