Pioneer Center is our supermarket of choice, since its very near our house, has free parking and prices are very reasonable. On a recent visit, we saw a tarp announcing that Chatime, a milk tea store, would be opening soon. We were quite happy with this, since whenever we wanted to satisfy our milk tea cravings, we had to troop all the way to Serenitea’s San Juan branch.
Chatime, hailing from Taiwan, is the one of the largest bubble tea brands in the world, with almost 500 stores around the world. Since the first visit last Thursday, April 7, I have been to Chatime Pioneer Center for milk tea going on 4 straight days.
ChaTime Roasted Milk Tea (P85/large) with extra pudding (P15) was my first order while Irene opted for Red Bean Milk Tea (P100/large) with extra pearls (P15).Sugar levels as well as amount of ice can be customized to your personal liking. Since it was our first time we opted to have both sugar levels and ice at 100% or normal levels. I could really taste the deep tea flavors with a hint of roasted rice that complimented well with the generous amount of pudding. Irene’s order was a no brainer since she’s is a fan of red bean and would order it anytime its available in other Asian countries since its not as popular here in the Philippines. She commented that there were lots of red bean in her milk tea and mixed well with the pearls giving a contrast of soft and chewy textures.
The Pioneer center branch has a quite spacious 2nd floor, part of which contains their training area as well as a spacious lounge with brightly colored hues of pinks and purple to contrast with the predominantly white color scheme. There are nice ottomans, 2-seater couches as well as booth like couches near the windows. Looks like a nice place to hang out with free wi-fi to boot.
On the next visit, actually I missed taking pics since it was an impromptu visit, us giving in to Lauren’s protestations on why she was not with us on the first visit. The third visit was a take out trip since we just wanted to take advantage of their current buy one free one promo available from 12 noon to 2 pm.
Just yesterday, we were back yet again, this time Lauren wanted to hang out in the 2nd floor again. She immediately picking the same seats as the one she sat in the first time she was there. I think the color scheme really appeals to here sense of style.
Here’s our trio of drinks for this visit.
Irene and Lauren punching their straws together into their drinks.
I chose Grass Jelly with Fresh Milk (P95/large).I loved the taste of fresh milk in my milk tea since its a lot smoother and fresh tasting. I wish they could have this as an option for all their drinks like what we had in Taipei.
Cocoa Smoothie (P55/regular). This is the 2nd chocolate drink Lauren ordered since the first one, Chocolate Mousse, did not sit well with her maybe because of the hint of coconut. The smoothie is kinda like a shake that tastes like chocolate Twin Popsies were thrown into the blender. Lauren’s finally found a drink at a milk tea place that she likes, she never liked anything at Serenitea except for the food.
Irene picked Taro Milk Tea (P90/large) with extra pearls (P15). I had the Taro Pudding Milk Tea the other day and Irene wanted the same day but does not like pudding so she opted for the plain one. We both love the taro bits in the milk tea, the drink taste just like taro and not the violet colored stuff other places have.
I’m fighting the urge to go back to Chatime today. So head on over to Chatime and see why it is now my new milk tea addiction. They have an ongoing promotion that will last until April 15, Buy 1 Take 1 from 12 noon to 2 pm only. I have so much stuff that I still want to try out from browsing the men.
* A little warning – some of their drinks don’t come with toppings/sinkers so be sure to ask first lest be disappointed when you receive your drink.
