Lauren loves science a lot, its her favorite subject in school. She has already been to the Science museums in Singapore, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Manila and Vancouver. When I saw that there was one in Taipei called National Taiwan Science Education Center, we just had to make time to visit.
We got to the museum around 9:30am, quite surprised at the immense building housing it. We got the museum tickets at NT$100(P150) and also optional tickets for the 3D ride also at NT$100(P150).
Exhibits are housed from the 3rd to the 6th floors of the building while the 3D ride is located at the basement.
There’s quite a number of interactive as well as non interactive exhibits spread across the 4 floors covering the different sciences.
The exhibit Lauren enjoyed the most was the one dealing with bubbles. She even got to encapsulate herself in a bubble with the contraption on the left picture.
The 3D ride was about 15 or 20 minutes long but most of the dialogue was in Mandarin. Despite that, the ride was still quite enjoyable since you could grasp the story thru the visuals.
An interesting ride for the more adventurous was the “Sky Cycle“. This is an optional ride where a person can get on a bike and pedal across the center of the building suspended 20 meters high with numerous nets that a acted as safety features.
The science museum was not what we expected after visiting the ones in other countries, it actually felt disappointing. Although if the only one you have went to is the one in MOA, your kids would enjoy this a lot since this is super big compared to the one here. Also, a lot of the exhibit converse in Mandarin.Still, for the price, its well worth a visit as seeing the kids enjoying and learning is already worth the price of admission.

Hi Richard,
I am planning to take my boy to the Science Education Center too.
I read somewhere that there is a free shuttle from Shih Lin Metro station but it does not seem to be listed anywhere officially. Can you verify if there is such a service?
Also, is there any good eateries within walking distance from Science Education Center?
Thanks
Raymond
