It’s seems like pod or capsule coffee machines are the rage nowadays, but the number is still not like other countries. When I went to Canada, it seemed like half the coffee shelves were devoted to pods/capsules. The ultimate brand for me is still Nespresso, with their sleek and stylish machines, and carefully chosen coffee beans that go into their grand crus. You used to only be able to buy Nespresso machines and coffee in other countries but now they are readily available here in the Philippines.
Nespresso made a big splash into the retail scene by collaborating with VASK Modern Tapas & Gastronomic Cuisine to create a special Nespresso coffee based menu.
A special amuse bouche, Seafood salad in olive oil, courtesy of Chef Luis Gonzalez. The olive oil was smooth and fruity and served to prepare our taste buds for the robust dishes ahead.
Smoked Foie Gras with Banana in Multiple Textures. Foie Gras served with sliced banana, banana chip and grilled banana and a Nespresso Espresso Forte sauce. Each banana had a distinct texture that served not only to excite the palate but balanace out the strong coffee sauce.
Beef Cheeks, simple name but packed a load of flavor.
Chocolate and Macadamia Cookies with Nespresso Ice Cream. Chocolate, cookies and a creamy Nespresso Ristretto Origin India ice cream. Yum.
Pistachio Nespresso Cappuccino. When I saw that on the menu I thought it was more coffee but boy was I so wrong. It was like a Pistachio cream soup with Nespresso Lung and Capricio. Good thing I had space in my tummy for this one.
