Chef Paolo Moran initial foray of introducing new dishes focused on pasta and a couple of mains, now he set his sights on 4 new pizzas. These new pizzas are not only new variants but will be using a new dough which give their pizzas a chewier but lighter consistency.
Before we tried the new line of pizzas, we had some menu mainstays like their Trio Platter (P525). A dish for different appetites in the family, mozzarella fritto, chicken tenders, and Italian chips with dipping sauces on the side.
Pollo Arrostito (P340/half, P655/whole). A classic on the Amici menu, I definitely had it before but was reminded how good it was with this visit. Roasted rosemary chicken served with a side of vegetables. The skin is very well seasoned, the rosemary really shines through, while the meat is tender and juicy, even my favorite breast part.
Il Supremo Pizza (P445). When in doubt, put everything in, this is the pizza of your dreams, the whole pie filled up with toppings. Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, anchovies, mozarella, and parmesan. This will remind you of something you’ve had a different pizza parlor in terms of toppings and look but flavor wise this is leagues better. The toppings are generous that each bite will have a good mix of everything, add to that the new dough and this is a clear cut winner.
Carne Fuego (P455). This is for the meat lovers who don’t want anything to do with the veggie toppings. Spicy Italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni, ham, and mozzarella, simple and just the good meaty stuff. The spice level is just right, not numbingly strong and ties up the different meat flavors.
Honey Sriracha Chicken Pizza (P438). Shredded chicken in honey butter and sriracha and finished off with drizzled blue cheese sauce. Spice level of this one is lower than the carne fuego probably tempered by the honey butter. Flavors are tasty but won’t be something I’ll order except if I want wings version of a pizza.
Smoked BBQ Pork (P455). Hickory bbq pulled pork topped with fresh onions and chopped lettuce in Caesar dressing in the middle. I forgot to take a pic of this one but it’s the most unique of the 4 new pizza offerings. A mix of American bbq flavors with creamy lettuce on top of a chewy pizza. I spread some lettuce on top of the pizza slice and rolled it before stuffing it into my mouth.
Coffee Honeycomb Cake (P110/slice, P745/whole). Light chocolate chiffon cake with layers of coffee and chocolate cream then topped with chocolate fudge and topped with honeycomb crunch. I’m not a big cake person because I find most of them cloyingly sweet. This one had the looks of the same but I was wrong, it was light and sweetness was just right with enough varying textures to keep it interesting.
