Celebrate Oktoberfest 2018 at Solaire

September 10, 2018 by Richard

The German Club Manila and Solaire have teamed up to host Oktoberfest 2018 at the Solaire Oktoberfest Tent on October 4-6, 2018 from 6pm to 2am. Tickets are priced from P4,590 to P5,184/person and can be bought from Ticketworld, German Club, Solaire Box Office and the event venue.

What can you expect at Oktoberfest, free flowing beer, Bavarian food and entertainment by the 12-man German band, Bavarian Sound Express as well as games and raffles.

They have prepared 25,000 liters of wheat beer from Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery in the world.

Start off with German cheese and cold cuts, bread, Munich style sausage salad, Cabbage Salad and German Potato salad. The started looks like it was created just for me, potato salad is something I can never resist. The cabbage salad has a light piquant flavor as well as the meaty sausage salad. I highly recommend you get the Landjaeger sausages (small, dark red) and the obatzda, a Bavarian cheese spread.

I always equate German food with sausages and they are very well represented here. The Weisswurst, poached veal sausages are especially good with a smear of sweet mustard. Other sausage varieties like Kaesekranier, Swabia red bratwurst and coarse pork sausage will also be served with sauerkraut and roasted potatoes on the side.

The Spaetzle Pan is excellent, smothered with cream and mountain cheese and topped with crispy onion.

You can never have enough meat so get your fill of Pork knuckles, pork schnitzel, meat loaf, roast chicken with bread dumpling.

Hope you made space for dessert else you’ll regret missing out on the Classic Apple strudel and the Kaiserschmarm. The kaiserschmarm is shredded pancakes with rum raisin then you top it with berry compote or vanilla sauce, I suggest the vanilla sauce.
